Despite their ongoing Financial Fair Play (FFP) restrictions, FC Barcelona have done a commendable job of strengthening their squad over the past few transfer windows. However, not every target has been within reach for the Catalan giants, and one name that continues to elude them is Karim Adeyemi.

The German forward, currently shining for Borussia Dortmund, has been on Barcelona’s radar for several years. The Blaugrana reportedly first took notice of him back in 2021, when he was making a name for himself at Red Bull Salzburg. Dortmund ultimately won the race for his signature in 2022, investing over €30 million to secure his services.

Now, according to Bild (via Mundo Deportivo), the interest from FC Barcelona in Adeyemi has resurfaced. The winger, who is enjoying a strong start to the season under Niko Kovac, has already notched 3 goals and 3 assists in 8 appearances, signaling a return to form after a quieter spell in recent seasons.

Adeyemi’s current contract with Borussia Dortmund runs until June 2027, but the Bundesliga club is reportedly seeking to extend it, potentially until 2029, with improved terms.

Should those renewal talks fail, however, Dortmund could consider a sale, as the 23-year-old German winger would be entering the final year of his current deal by the end of this season.

That scenario could open the door for the Catalan giants, who remain attentive to opportunities in the market despite their financial limitations.

This past summer, their total spending did not surpass €30 million, yet they still managed to reinforce key positions with signings such as Joan Garcia, Marcus Rashford (on loan), and Roony Bardghji.

For now, Adeyemi’s estimated valuation of around €80 million may put him beyond Barcelona’s immediate reach. But with the player’s form on the rise and his contractual situation potentially evolving, Barcelona’s long-standing admiration for the German winger may soon turn into a renewed pursuit.
