ONE – SATURDAY 27th APRIL 1935 – Celtic’s season finishes with a 2-1 win over St Mirren at Parkhead with goals from Hugh O’Donnell and John McInally. Nine years have now passed without a League title but this year there have been signs of a slight improvement. Jimmy Delaney is very impressive on the right wing and Jimmy McGrory is still around, but it is the third Jimmy – Jimmy Napoleon McMenemy – now back as a trainer who is beginning to make difference.

TWO – SATURDAY 27th APRIL 1968 – Without kicking a ball, Celtic win their third Scottish League championship in a row! Rangers finally crack and lose to the strong Aberdeen side at Ibrox, meaning that Celtic are the champions unless they lose to Dunfermline Athletic on Wednesday night by some impossible score. In some ways, this is Celtic’s best League championship of the lot because they were so far behind at New Year, but won through by playing good football and piling the psychological pressure on Rangers.

THREE – SATURDAY 27th APRIL 1974 – It is a disappointing 1-1 draw at Brockville but it is enough to win Celtic’s ninth successive Scottish League Championship. Relegation threatened Falkirk score early after a defensive mix-up, but Kenny Dalglish scores a great goal to equalise, and the Celtic fans sing “nine-in-a-row”.

FOUR – SATURDAY 27th APRIL 1996 – Celtic put on another fine display of attacking football to beat Partick Thistle 4-2 at Firhill with two goals from Pierre Van Hooijdonk (one was a penalty), one from Jorge Cadete and the other from Malky Mackay. It is a shame that Celtic will not win anything this year, for their football has been excellent, apart from the fatal complex about Rangers.

FIVE – SUNDAY 27th APRIL 2008 – A great day for Celtic as they beat Rangers 3-2 at Parkhead with a couple of goals from Scott McDonald and a crucial penalty sunk by Barry Robson. They annoying thing is that, although Celtic have a better goal difference, Rangers are still a point ahead of Gordon Strachan’s side, and we still need someone else to beat or draw with them!
