FLW lists the four players out of contract at The Hawthorns in 2027.

West Brom will be hoping for much better fortunes in the 2026-27 Championship campaign under James Morrison.

Leading the team on a miraculous 10-game unbeaten streak that helped them narrowly retain their Championship status last season, Morrison was handed the job on a full-time basis, and there’s much optimism that Albion can get back competing towards the top end of the table.

There’s been an emphasis on revamping the squad with much younger and hungrier players to achieve success with Morrison at the helm, and it looks to have worked after a strong opening showing to the new term.

Further changes could be made at the club after the end of this season too, with three West Brom players currently out of contract in the summer of 2027.

And here at FLW, we list those three names who could well depart The Hawthorns on free transfers in 2027.

Conor Townsend

Starting off the list is experienced defender Conor Townsend, who returned to The Hawthorns as one of 10 new arrivals in the summer transfer window.

Townsend left the Baggies in the summer of 2024 to link up with Ipswich Town, but a serious ACL injury disrupted any progress he could make at Portman Road, with him eventually becoming a free agent this summer.

Townsend rejoined Albion on a one-year deal, likely to be back-up for Callum Styles, although the Baggies will be pleased they have good cover in both full-back departments – something they haven’t had in recent years.

Harry Whitwell

One youth product who is taking his chance in the blue and white stripes is Harry Whitwell, lighting up the Championship stage in the opening few weeks.

Whitwell has added an extra dimension to Albion in the final third, with such impressive performances already catching the eye of Championship rivals Norwich City.

The Baggies will want to tie down Whitwell to a new contract as quickly as possible to fend off interest, and Full Throstle writer Steve Tudgay has reported that the club are close to agreeing a new four-year deal for the midfielder, although it is yet to be officially confirmed.

As of right now, Whitwell will be leaving The Hawthorns on a free transfer, but it would be some shock to see that become a reality next year.

Ollie Bostock

It’s been a bit of a fall from grace for Ollie Bostock, who has gone from the highs of netting a winning penalty against Swansea City in the FA Cup last season to closing in on a loan away to the National League.

Originally part of Morrison’s set-up in his interim spell, Bostock is yet to feature for the Baggies in the 2026-27 campaign, and it seems he needs a move away to get his career back on track.

The Express & Star revealed that Bostock is set for a short loan spell away to a non-league outfit until January, whereby then he’ll have played regular football and can contribute in the second tier come the turn of the year.

It’s an important spell for Bostock in his West Brom career, with this move having to go well in order for him to break back into Morrison’s plans.

If he doesn’t, then it seems highly likely he’ll depart for nothing, with his current Albion contract running down in the summer of 2027.
