Paraag Marathe will take part in Rangers’ hunt for a new manager this summer after Danny Rohl’s departure was confirmed on Wednesday. According to Leeds Live, the Leeds United chairman and 49ers executive is set to be involved in the recruitment process.

The 49ers were part of the consortium that took control at Ibrox in May 2025, with Marathe initially named vice-chairman. He stepped down from that title in February after discussions with UEFA regarding multi-club ownership rules. The move came two days before UEFA’s compliance deadline for the following season, when Leeds still had an outside shot at Europe thanks to their FA Cup run.

Earlier this month, Marathe said he remains closely involved in Ibrox boardroom matters, describing his engagement as unchanged. He indicated MCO regulations had temporarily prevented formal board status, which he suggested could revert in future.

He is expected, alongside Rangers chairman Andrew Cavenagh, to begin the search for Rohl’s successor. Rohl only arrived in October, and his exit was by mutual agreement before taking the RB Salzburg job.

The next appointment will be the third permanent manager installed under the 49ers’ ownership in just over a year. Russell Martin was hired last June, then dismissed and replaced by Rohl in October.

At Elland Road there has been no such churn, with Daniel Farke in post throughout the past three years. The 49ers now seem likely to offer him a new contract after survival was sealed with three games to spare.
