After a trophy-laden career at Real Madrid, Luka Modric joined the Rossoneri on a free transfer in the summer.

Despite turning 40 today, Modric has already proved to be an asset for Massimiliano Allegri’s side this season.

Widely regarded as one of the best midfielders of all time, Modric is arguably Croatia’s best-ever player.

In addition to his vast success at the club level, he led his country to unimaginable heights in the last two FIFA World Cups.

After captaining the Blazers to the 2018 final, where they lost to France, he helped them win a bronze medal in Qatar.

Therefore, his words carry significant weight, especially when it comes to recognizing talent.

Petar Sucic is more than just a prodigy.

Indeed, he is already an established international, with many expecting him to carry the torch after Modric’s retirement.

Last night, he fought shoulder to shoulder with Modric as Croatia swept Montenegro aside in World Cup qualifiers.

Indeed, Zlatko Dalic’s side strolled to a 4-0 victory on Sucic’s return to Maksimir.

“He’s a very strong, talented player and a good guy,” Modric said. “We had already played together, and he had shown his qualities.

“It’s no coincidence that he ended up at a club like Inter. You’ll surely appreciate him even more. He still has room to improve.

“I enjoy playing with him, and I hope he keeps getting better. Soon we’ll face each other in the derby, and we’ll see how he treats me.

“I hope he shows respect and doesn’t go too hard, but for now, I’m just enjoying playing alongside him.”

Modric’s words can serve as an encouragement for the 21-year-old to stay on this trajectory.
