AC Milan no longer consider Benfica’s António Silva a priority and are considering Sporting centre-back Gonçalo Inácio to bolster Rúben Amorim’s back line. Gazzetta suggests that the shift follows Milan confirming Gonçalo Ramos from PSG on Tuesday.

Silva had been an early option, not least as he is in the final year of his Benfica deal. A firm stance from the Lisbon club has nudged Milan towards alternatives, the report said. Benfica still want to extend Silva’s contract and have not been approached about a sale.

Inácio, who worked under Amorim at Sporting for several seasons, is viewed as a leading candidate. The defensive search is at Amorim’s request. He suits the coach’s model, including a back three that Amorim often deploys.

The Portugal international could be available for around 40 million euros, the report said.

Milan are also assessing other options, including Tiago Gabriel, a Portugal Under-21 who has been with Lecce since January 2025. He was offered to the club by Jorge Mendes and could be a more affordable defensive alternative.
