AFC Bournemouth host Genoa in behind-closed-doors Dorset friendly | OneFootball

The Cherries continue pre-season at their performance centre this afternoon, hosting Genoa behind closed doors, their only Dorset friendly of the summer.

Bournemouth returned from Austria with a 5-2 win over Augsburg, after beating St Pauli 4-1. According to Bournemouth Echo, Marco Rose was without Junior Kroupi, Julian Araujo, Tyler Adams and Alvaro Rodriguez for the Augsburg game.

Kroupi will be absent again, while Araujo will likely be missing. Adams had yet to rejoin training in Austria after returning later due to the World Cup, so he may get his first minutes, while Rodriguez had a small knock so may also return.

Boss Rose indicated Ryan Christie picked up a knee issue during the game, so he may not be available. Italy’s oldest existing football team, Genoa Cricket and Football Club were founded in 1893, to represent England abroad, initially allowing only English players.

This summer Genoa have played three friendlies, beating Trento 2-1, drawing 2-2 with LR Vicenza, then beating Leicester City 1-0 on Saturday. The Bournemouth fixture is their penultimate warm-up before their season begins on August 22, against Napoli in Serie A.

Last season Genoa finished 16th in the Italian top flight, seven points clear of the drop.
