FC Bayern is continuing to work on its strategy for the future, with a highly talented defender from the club’s own youth ranks about to sign a new contract.

Cassiano Kiala is set to sign a new contract with the German record champions in the near future. According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, the Munich club has agreed a contract extension with Jorge Mendes, the 16-year-old’s new advisor. The signing is expected to follow in the near future.

It had previously been reported that FC Bayern wanted to tie the Berlin-born player to the club on a long-term deal. Kiala arrived on campus from Hertha BSC in the summer of 2024 and has developed rapidly there. He trains regularly with the professionals and has already made eleven appearances in the matchday squad this season. He made his first appearance in the 4-0 win at Heidenheim.

Star advisor Jorge Mendes‘ involvement in the talks accelerated the process noticeably, with the club using his competitive debut as a signal – to show the youngster that they are not only showing him prospects, but are already integrating him.

Long-term plan with a professional contract

Kiala has everything a modern centre-back needs: pace, understanding of the game and physical presence. The club management believes he will make the breakthrough to a regular player in the medium term. Interested parties from the Premier League have long had their eyes on him, but the signs clearly point to him staying in Munich.

Kiala is currently tied to FC Bayern until 2027. The new contract will extend the term and include an automatic conversion to a professional contract when he comes of age. The plan at Säbener Straße is similar to that of Lennart Karl: promote him early, build him up consistently and actively integrate him into the team.

The daily training sessions with stars such as Harry Kane and Joshua Kimmich, the confidence of the coaching team and the real chances of playing for FC Bayern clearly speak in favour of a future at the club – despite well-known competition from abroad.
