Football League World checks in with ChatGPT's latest prediction on who will be relegated from the Championship this season

Another huge gameweek has passed, with more big results down at the bottom of the Championship table.

Of the five teams sitting between 19th and 23rd, only Leicester City failed to pick up any points, as they slumped to defeat against Swansea City, extending their unwanted winless run to five.

The two sides directly above them, Oxford United and Portsmouth, both picked up vital wins against Watford and Middlesbrough, respectively, and now the Foxes sit four points adrift of safety.

Blackburn Rovers drew again, and so did West Brom, but big news emerged at the start of the week regarding the Baggies being charged with an alleged breach of Profit and Sustainability Rulings, which could result in a points deduction being applied before the end of the campaign.

So, with four games remaining, and five for Portsmouth, plus various off-field issues to sieve through, too, there's bound to be further twists and turns in this relegation battle between now and May 2nd, but what does AI think will happen?

Football League World has turned to popular AI service, ChatGPT, to get its opinions on who will be in the bottom three come the final whistle on game 46.

Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday's relegation to the Championship was a formality since the start of the season, and was mathematically confirmed in February, following a loss in the Steel City Derby against Sheffield United.

It's the earliest ever relegation in EFL history, and since then, the Owls have picked up three draws in the nine games which have followed, leaving them on -4 points heading into the final four games.

Wednesday will ideally have new ownership in the coming weeks, with May 1st remaining the target for David Storch and his Arise consortium to take over at Hillsborough, and that will allow the Owls to start preparing for life back in League One.

Hopefully, by the end of the campaign, they could break past the negative points barrier, and perhaps pick up just their second win of the season, too.

Oxford United

For the second consecutive campaign, Matt Bloomfield has overseen an upturn in form towards the final few months of the season after some poor results to kick off his tenure.

Unfortunately, like with Luton Town last season, AI doesn't think it will be enough to see Oxford United over the line.

The Yellows have lost just one of their last eight games going into the final four, and that defeat came against the seemingly unstoppable Southampton, but they do face the likes of Derby County, Wrexham and Millwall in their final four.

They also host Sheffield Wednesday between now and the end of the season, though, so Oxford ideally will be at least three points better off than where they are now. Even then, it won't be enough, according to ChatGPT, to retain their Championship status for a second successive year.

Leicester City

ChatGPT doesn't think that the three sides currently in the second-tier's drop zone will be climbing out of there come the end of the campaign. What's interesting, though, is that they feel that Leicester will finish above Oxford.

The Foxes look devoid of any fight, with just one league win since January 5. They face a massive six-pointer clash against Portsmouth on Saturday, and while a win in that could spur them on for a fightback, games against Hull City and Millwall immediately afterwards won't help.

There are also the repercussions that come if they do lose that game against Pompey, which would see them at least five, if not more, points adrift of safety with three games remaining.

Regardless, AI feels that the Foxes will succumb to a second successive relegation come the end of the campaign. Interestingly, even with the uncertainty surrounding whether West Brom will be given a points deduction, the bottom three will remain the same.
