Al-Hilal could release Karim Benzema this season if they recruit a new goalscoring striker in the current summer window.

According to Goal.com, the club are assessing a financial settlement with the French forward that would hinge on landing a replacement.

The development followed a flashpoint a day earlier, when Benzema objected to being substituted in the 70th minute of a 4-2 win over Al-Faisaly in the Roshn League opener.

Manager Simone Inzaghi defended the reaction after the match, describing it as natural for the striker to want as much playing time as possible.

Benzema joined Al-Hilal last winter on a free transfer after terminating his Al-Ittihad contract. He has made 14 appearances across all competitions, scoring 10 goals and providing five assists.
