Al-Khelaïfi double role targeted as LFP faces curbs under new French sports law | OneFootball

The French bill overhauling professional sport is set for final approval this week, tightening conflict-of-interest rules and reshaping football finances. The LFP faces closer scrutiny and Nasser Al-Khelaïfi’s double role is directly targeted.

According to Le Progres, the “PPL Sports” text from senators Michel Savin and Laurent Lafon goes to the National Assembly on Monday and the Senate on Tuesday. Promulgation could follow within 15 days after a unanimous joint committee deal 13 days ago.

Eight clubs including Lens and Marseille praised the balance, while PSG, Lille, Lorient and Nantes objected, citing reduced FFF voting weight from 33 to 25 percent and a 12 million euros annual loss from betting revenue moving to the federation.
