West Bromwich Albion have confirmed a new public address system will be in place at The Hawthorns for the new season, a change welcomed by fans.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, club executives briefed last week’s Albion Assembly at the stadium. Chris Harris said installation is already more than halfway complete, praised the provider, and added they are confident it will be ready for the start of the season.
The update followed Harris telling the Fan Advisory Board on May 14 that work was almost halfway and that roof-mounted speakers would start going in by the end of this month. The news has also been well received by supporters online.
Tomasz Chadwick, now director of events and experience after moving from head of commercial, led discussion on half-time queues, concourse food, in-stadium Wi-Fi, atmosphere, events and concerts, players visiting hospitality suites, and roadside digital screens.
Chadwick also said the club are set to appoint a dedicated fan experience manager ahead of the 2026/27 campaign, and are exploring matchday Hawthorns helpers. The Championship side are looking to improve concourse food and trial self-pouring and self-ordering technology to ease queues.
Assembly members asked whether closed-for-matchday Halfords Lane, usually shut about 90 minutes before kick-off, could host fan activities. They were told the road must be able to reopen quickly for emergencies, so current options are the nearby fan zone on the Birmingham Road corner and the East Stand car park.
