Albion’s Second Tier Season Comparison – 4 games | OneFootball

There was a level of frustration at the end of Wednesday’s game that was similar to that felt under Ryan Mason – a game that Albion should have won but didn’t. There was a difference, however. James Morrison’s Albion looked much closer to breaking down the opposition than Mason’s team did for most of the time, and the level of domination of the ball was at another level. 71% possession and 15 shots to 4 showed how much the Baggies were on top and, without a ‘keeper as good as Okonkwo, I feel sure the Addicks would have been well beaten.

It’s still early days, of course, and I feel that this team is more likely to improve than regress. Once all the new faces, ten of them in total, are bedded in and those without previous Championship experience get up to speed with the division, I am optimistic that Mozza’s men can at least challenge for a play-off place.

The club has only once won the first four league games of a season, in 1947/48, when that resulted in just 8 points of course – Albion finished that season in 7th place!
