Alex Luna confirmed Flamengo have made contact over a potential move after firing Instituto to a 1-0 win on Saturday. According to Coluna Do Fla, with Thiago Almada and Luiz Henrique not in the frame, Flamengo are now weighing lower-profile signings, and Luna is among them.

Against Gimnasia Mendoza in the Argentine league, the 22-year-old settled it with a deft chip 35 minutes into the second half after a pass from Jeremias Lazaro. The finish opened the scoring and Instituto saw it out.

He had earlier missed a penalty, then turned from culprit to matchwinner. He later admitted frustration with the spot-kick, said he struck it hard, moved on quickly, and stressed the value of three points with Instituto now in continental qualification places.

Asked about a move, Luna said Flamengo had spoken to his representative a few days ago and that they will see what happens in the coming days. He has seven goals and one assist in 21 appearances this season.

Luna made his professional debut in 2020 with Atlético Rafaela. He was loaned to Independiente in 2024, then to Instituto last year, before the club made the move permanent for 2026.

Instituto are said to be seeking around 8 million euros, roughly R$ 46 million, for the playmaker. Flamengo are also monitoring Banfield’s Tiziano Perrota, 19.
