As the upcoming March international break draws near, Algeria's head coach, Vladimir Petkovic, appears ready to shake up his defensive hierarchy. According to several Algerian local sources, Petkovic has reportedly made a radical decision regarding his defensive selections.

The coach has decided to make Zinedine Belaïd his first-choice substitute off the bench, effectively placing him as the third option in defense behind the two starters, Aïssa Mandi (vice-captain) and Ramy Bensebaini. It's a logical decision considering the recent performances of the JSK defender, both with the national team during AFCON and at club level this season.

As a reminder, Algeria will face Guatemala and Uruguay during this next FIFA window. Both matches will be played in Italy.
