Almería-Castellón play-off referees step up as RFEF confirms Primera División promotions

The Spanish federation confirmed in its 2025/26 refereeing report that four officials are promoted to Primera División for 2026/27. They are Luis Bestard Servera, Jon Ander González Esteban, Carlos Muñiz Muñoz and Manuel Jesús Orellana Cid.

Bestard did not award a penalty to Lucas Alcázar in the first leg of Castellón-Almería, and González Esteban took charge of the return. All four leave Segunda after several seasons and will now referee in the top flight.

Eight officials come into LaLiga Hypermotion. From Primera Federación arrive Abraham Domínguez Cervantes, Juan Manuel Gordillo Cañas, Daniel Miranda Villalón, Pablo Morales Moreno, Gonzalo Romero García and Olatz Rivera. They are joined by Iosu Galech Apezteguía and José Luis Guzmán Mansilla, who drop down from Primera.

Leaving the Segunda roster, besides the four promoted, are Alonso de Ena Wolf, Miguel González Francés, Álvaro Moreno Aragón and Sergiu Claudiu Muresan.

The assistant referee pool also changes. Pedro Campoy, Sergio Doval, Iragartze Fernández, Eduard Martí, David Monge, Daniel Sánchez and Álvaro Sanz are added, along with Eliana Fernández, who is relegated from Primera. Exiting are Manuel Herrera, Borja Jiménez, Sergi López and Rubén Porras.

VAR appointments are updated. Guillermo Cuadra Fernández, Álvaro Moreno Aragón and Alejandro Muñiz Ruiz join as video assistant referees, while Óliver de la Fuente Ramos, Pablo González Fuertes and Mario Melero López leave the role.
