Almería have confirmed the signing of Brian Cipenga, born 11 March 1998, after two seasons at CD Castellón.
According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, he signs a three-year deal to June 2029 with an option of a further year after his Castellón contract expired. Almería eliminated Castellón in the play-off semi-finals, and had he not been at the World Cup he could have faced his future club.
Cipenga joined in summer 2024, the first season of Haralabos Voulgaris’s project in LaLiga Hypermotion. He found little continuity early on, then under Johan Plat in the second half he grew in influence, ending with three goals and one assist.
He excelled in 2025/26, becoming a key figure with pace and left wing threat. He delivered six goals and nine assists, helping Castellón into the promotion play-offs, though he missed them for the World Cup.
The move is not ideal competitively, as he stays in the second tier after Almería lost the final to Málaga. He will return to SkyFi Castalia as a rival. The path echoes Daijiro Chirino, who joined Almería last year for around two million euros and was booed by some on his return.
