Elliot Anderson will be allowed to leave England’s World Cup camp to complete a move to Manchester City, if they can agree a transfer fee with Nottingham Forest.

City are reportedly preparing to submit an improved offer for the player after their first bid was rejected by Forest this week.

The two clubs are in negotiations over a potential deal for the 23-year-old, who is one of the most in-demand midfielders in the Premier League following a highly impressive campaign at the City Ground. He has also been linked with Manchester United.

With the FIFA World Cup getting underway on 11th June, Anderson is currently preparing for the tournament with the rest of the England squad at their Miami base. The Three Lions play their first game against Croatia on 17th June.

England boss Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that any player looking to move clubs can leave the camp so long as it is not too soon before one of their matches. He added that the team doctor is ready to carry out medical tests on site if needed.

“It’s about common sense,” Tuchel said ahead Saturday’s friendly with New Zealand. “I would not like it the day before a match, or on a matchday, that’s the policy. Maybe two days before too, but let’s see.

“But everything else if it’s done privately, efficiently and quietly then we are always happy to help.

“It helps to have clarity around any player, the best thing we can have is that so if anyone has a chance to complete a change of club we will not stand in their way.

“But it has to align, of course, with our schedule and our goals which is to be focused and prepared for matches.

“No player has approached me yet but our doctor is ready to do any medicals!”
