Esteban Andrada will not play for Real Zaragoza again after punching Huesca captain Jorge Pulido at full time on Sunday, an incident that sparked a mass melee at El Alcoraz and drew global attention.

Sanctions for such offences range from four to 12 matches, and his public remorse and lack of prior offences could reduce any ban. The club said after the match it would take the pertinent disciplinary measures against the goalkeeper, which could include suspension without pay, though that option remains under study.

Andrada later issued an apology, saying he was very sorry and that it reflected poorly on the club, supporters and his profession. He highlighted only one previous dismissal in his career, for handling outside the area, described a limit situation in which he lost control and pledged not to repeat it.

The punch came after he had already been shown a second yellow and had pushed the defender, before a subsequent straight red card was produced amid the chaos.

The Argentine is on loan at Zaragoza until the end of the season from Monterrey, with an obligatory 1.5 million dollars purchase clause if the team are promoted. He did not train on Monday and, like the other starters at El Alcoraz, sat out the session, with B-team player Tobajas the only new face.
