OGC Nice are seeking an investor to take over their women’s section, and president Ange Ferracci says he will do everything to save the Second League side.
According to L'Équipe, he moved to clarify the situation after a report suggesting the women’s team could disappear from the professional level.
He said he had met the squad alongside potential co-investors, and that several parties had shown interest. He insisted it was out of the question to walk away.
Ferracci acknowledged ongoing financial strains that are holding the project back. He noted he founded the section in 2004 and said he has long faced what he called antifeminism, adding that even without the resources to climb higher he would not abandon the players.
He plans talks with the region, the department and the city council to find a solution for the semi-professional team, and he maintained the club’s other women’s sides are not at risk. He hopes matters can be resolved within eight to 10 days.
