Ange Postecoglou sacked by Tottenham | OneFootball

In what was perhaps a long time coming, Tottenham have finally parted ways with boss Ange Postecoglou.

After their Carabao Cup semi-final thrashing at the hands of Liverpool, the Spurs brass have seen fit to dismiss the Australian with immediate effect.

"Following a review of performances and after significant reflection, the Club can announce that Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties," the club said in an official statement.

"Ange joined us from Celtic in the summer of 2023 and oversaw a period of change on the pitch, returning us to the attacking brand of football that has traditionally been associated with the Club, while writing a new chapter in our history by leading us to UEFA Europa League glory in Bilbao last month - an achievement that will live with us all forever."

Postecoglou, who initially won plaudits from fans and pundits alike for his no-nonsense and outspoken approach in North London, has failed to deliver as Spurs sit 14th in the Premier League table and just 10 points clear of the drop zone after picking up just seven points in their last ten league fixtures.

The 59-year-old former Celtic headmaster will be replaced by Ryan Mason on an interim basis until a permanent replacement can be confirmed by the club.
