According to Glorioso 1904, António Silva, on holiday in Croatia, posted a social media image that caught the eye of Benfica fans amid ongoing talks with the club.

The photo, originally shared by his brother Armando, shows a Torcida Split mural alongside the Hajduk Split crest. The post carried added symbolism due to the long-standing friendship between Torcida and Benfica’s No Name Boys.

That connection dates back to 14 September 1994, when Benfica faced Hajduk Split in the Champions League. After the game, a van carrying Benfica supporters crashed in Spain on the return to Portugal, killing three No Name Boys, Rita, Tino and ‘Gullit’.

Since then, both groups have continued to honour their memory. Before heading to Croatia, Silva had also shared lighter holiday moments, gathering Benfica team-mates for a paintball session.

Among those involved were Samuel Soares, Henrique Araújo, Diogo Prioste, João Rego, Gonçalo Oliveira, Diogo Ferreira, Manu Silva and Tomás Araújo.

The defender is preparing to return to Seixal to begin another season under Marco Silva. He continues to be regarded as a key reference for the present and future of Benfica’s academy.
