A subscribers’ draw turned into an unforgettable experience for Mari Prades and her 13-year-old daughter Carme, who travelled with Villarreal to Palma. A special souvenir from goalkeeper Arnau Tenas crowned the trip.
According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the pair joined the club party to Mallorca, first meeting Tenas at the airport for a photo and a brief exchange that lifted Carme’s excitement. They later saw the squad up close on the plane and at the hotel, and took in the cathedral and dinner in the old town.
Her mother spoke of how humble the players were, and how seeing them file past was striking. The proximity of the trip is what will stay with them.
On the pitch, Tenas made an early mistake that Carme lamented, then recovered with several important saves. After full-time he kept his word and handed over a signed shirt, the moment Carme values most and plans to frame at home.
Carme’s bond with Villarreal began aged four after her grandfather took her to a match, while her mother admits she follows the club with less intensity. She has since ticked off trips to San Mamés for the recent 1-2 win and to the Metropolitano.
The standout in her memory remains Belfast five years ago at the UEFA Super Cup against Chelsea, which she recalls as something different.
