Arne Slot hails improvement of Liverpool duo after thrashing Newcastle | OneFootball

Arne Slot highlighted the improvement shown by Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz since the two attackers joined the club in the summer after Liverpool thrashed Newcastle 4-1.

Ekitike scored twice, with Wirtz setting up his first goal before adding one himself in the second half to help their side to a big victory.

“Everyone should talk about his goals and his actions and how nice this is, because this is what pundits or every fan should talk about, because that’s much more important than the work rate off the ball for them,” Slot said when asked about Ekitike, who has now scored 15 goals in all competitions this season.

“But for me as a manager, I’ve seen throughout the last six or seven months improvement, but lately a lot of improvement in terms of work rate off the ball.

“Not even work rate, but the ability to keep on going off the ball, Especially with Hugo and Florian. They’ve improved throughout the last seven or eight months, but now I think everyone can see that improvement as well.

“The better we are off the ball, the more we have the ball, the more we have the ball, the more they can show how special they are.”
