Arrascaeta suffered a fracture to his left wrist playing for Uruguay against South Korea on Monday 27. He later addressed the setback on social media.
In an Instagram story, the player said he places his faith in God, fears nothing, and that no problem or storm is greater than divine power.
The injury came in this international window when he slipped without contact and felt pain in his left arm. He left the pitch immediately, and manager Diego Forlán replaced him on 32 minutes of the second half.
Medical tests after the match confirmed the fracture in his left wrist.
Flamengo are aware of the situation and await his return to Rio de Janeiro for a new evaluation. He is expected to undergo surgery, with no return date set.
The No 10 is out of both Libertadores ties against Estudiantes on 15 and 22 October. Flamengo lose a key figure, one of their leading Libertadores scorers with 14 goals.
Before that, Flamengo visit Santos on 8 October at 19h30 at Vila Belmiro, then face Fluminense on 11 October at 17h30 at the Maracanã.
