Flamengo face a significant setback after Arrascaeta left the pitch with a right shoulder problem during Wednesday's Conmebol Libertadores group game away to Estudiantes at Estadio Jorge Luis Hirschi. The playmaker requested a first-half substitution.
The club said in a statement that imaging at a local hospital confirmed a fracture of his right clavicle and that he will return to Rio de Janeiro in the early hours of Thursday with the travelling party.
The incident came in the 16th minute when, after a challenge with Piovi, the Uruguayan landed on his right shoulder. Flamengo's medical staff entered the pitch and indicated the No 10 needed to come off.
Carrascal warmed up quickly and replaced him. Arrascaeta did not remain on the bench, heading to the dressing room for further checks.
At the moment of the change, the tie was 0-0 in the third round of the group stage of the Conmebol Libertadores.
