Arsenal and England defender Lotte Wubben-Moy says she is feeling stronger and fitter than ever as she continues to establish herself at the international level.

Wubben-Moy is in line to feature again for England when they take on Spain and Iceland in World Cup qualifiers this month.

She has been a key player at Arsenal under boss Renee Slegers this season, and says she is relishing the opportunity to keep proving her importance for her national team too.

Reflecting on her improvement, she explained: “With injuries and setbacks, you have to kind of trust in the process. It sounds cliche but I think for every individual, the journey is different.

“My journey hasn’t always been smooth and I actually think that’s put me in better stead. I think I’ve learnt so much about myself as a person and a player.

“I think where I am now – stronger, fitter, more confident, is only as a result of the journey I’ve had.

“To be sat here today having full belief and full confidence in myself is credit to the journey I’ve been on and will continue to be on.

“I think I’d be lying if I said there weren’t doubts. I think as a football player, you’re constantly on the line of belief and ultimately if you live life introspectively and constantly wanting to push yourself, I think you will only ever get good results.

“Coming from a place of injuries and setbacks, I’ve been able to look at details, in particular the work that I do off the pitch personally and physically.”
