Pep Guardiola will be bidding goodbye to two of his most experienced players, Bernardo Silva and John Stones, at the end of the campaign, while uncertainties over Rodri‘s future at the club have also surfaced amid interest from Real Madrid.

Guardiola’s own future at City is also said to be in doubt as he enters the last year of his current contract, with director of football Hugo Viana and co lining up Enzo Maresca as their preferred replacement for the Catalan.

Despite these upcoming departures, some of which could leave a big gap in City’s midfield, reports have suggested that Manchester City are open to parting ways with Reijnders amid interest from several top clubs.

How has Tijjani Reijnders fared at Man City?

Reijnders marked an impressive start to his journey at Manchester City, making his Premier League debut in their 4-0 win against Wolves in August 2025, wherein he scored the second goal and assisted Erling Haaland for the third.

After receiving consecutive starts and regular minutes on the pitch at the beginning of the campaign, the PEC Zwolle graduate’s game-time started to lessen from November 2025 onwards.

Reijnders has been an unused substitute in seven out of Manchester City’s last 10 games in the top flight, underlining how far he has dropped in Guardiola’s pecking order amid his side’s pursuit of a domestic treble in the final weeks of the season.

Overall, the Netherlands international has started in 29 out of 45 appearances across all competitions for Manchester City this term, registering seven goals and eight assists.

The former AC Milan star’s first trophy with Manchester City came when the Blues beat Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley in March, coming on a substitute.

Man City to hold Reijnders talks amid Arsenal interest

According to a report by journalist Mark Brus, Manchester City and Reijnders are ‘most likely’ in line to have a meeting at the end of the campaign to ‘clarify the situation’.

While the midfielder has fallen behind in Guardiola’s pecking order, the report also highlights that a departure after just one season at the Premier League side might be unlikely, while confirming initial interest from Arsenal.

Arsenal are reportedly monitoring how Reijnders’ situation builds up at the Etihad Stadium into the summer transfer window – the Gunners could be open to bolstering their midfield ahead of the 2026-27 season.

Despite falling out of favour at City, the midfielder has attracted attention from several other prominent clubs, including Newcastle United, Aston Villa and his former club AC Milan.

With four more years remaining in his current contract and a chance of winning the domestic treble in his first season at Manchester City, it remains to be seen what’s next for Reijnders.
