Arteta says there is ‘a chance’ Arsenal star could return before end of the season | OneFootball

Mikel Arteta says there is a chance Jurrien Timber can return before the end of the season.

Timber has been out for a month with an ankle issue but Arteta says he has been making progress in his recovery.

“He has progressed a little bit in the last few days,” he said.

“We will try to get him back. He is a really important player for us and he’s doing everything he can to help the squad in any way possible.

Asked if there is a chance he could return this season, Arteta replied: “There is a chance but how big that chance is I cannot tell you. He is going to try and do everything he can to convert that chance, and that’s the challenge ahead.”

Timber’s return before the end of the campaign would be a timely one, with fellow right-back Ben White ruled out for the remainder of the season with a knee injury.

“It looks like a long term injury,” Arteta said on White. “At the moment the focus is when can we have him back, that is not going to happen in many many weeks.”

Riccardo Calafiori, meanwhile, is a doubt for the game against Burnley on Monday after coming off injured against West Ham.

“No we don’t know if he’s going to be available, we have days ahead, hopefully it is nothing serious,” Arteta said.
