According to ExpressAndStar.com, Aston Villa could still move for another winger this summer despite agreeing a loan for Alejandro Garnacho.
The 22-year-old has completed a medical and his switch from Chelsea is on track to be finalised on Thursday. The deal is understood to include a conditional option to buy, which could lead to a four-year contract if specific terms are met.
Villa sold Morgan Rogers to Chelsea this week for a British record £117 million, easing immediate pressure over UEFA financial rules.
The clauses in Garnacho’s loan are likely to draw UEFA scrutiny, given strict rules on rapid player trading. If any condition made a permanent move “virtually certain”, it would reduce the profit Villa can book on the Rogers sale.
Adding pace out wide has been a key focus for Unai Emery, who initially preferred two signings in those roles, before Villa were forced to rebuild midfield following Amadou Onana’s injury and the sale of Youri Tielemans.
A combined £90m was committed to Johan Manzambi and Joao Gomes, though finances permitting Villa could still pursue another winger later in the window.
That could depend on departures. Hull City have held talks over Leon Bailey, and Villa will listen to offers for Evann Guessand.
Emery also wants a left-back to replace Lucas Digne, who is joining Paris Saint-Germain, along with a right-back.
