Aston Villa are now moving to sign West Ham United defender Jean-Clair Todibo after losing Joel Ordonez to Crystal Palace, according to French outlet Foot Mercato.

Todibo has emerged as a target for the Villans and West Ham are set to let him go after his fallout with Nuno Espirito Santo.

The Frenchman has a verbal agreement with Marseille, but they have to sell before they are able to finalise a loan deal for him.

Villa could eye a permanent deal, which the Hammers would prefer to a loan. The opportunity to continue plying his trade in the Premier League may appeal to Todibo.

The Villans are desperate to bolster their squad following a 4-0 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion on the opening weekend of the new season.

Todibo brings plenty of experience to the table and could be a perfect replacement for Ezri Konsa.

The 26-year-old France international has previously played for Barcelona, Toulouse, Schalke 04 and OGC Nice.

It appears Emery is convinced that he has what it takes to hit the ground running for Villa.

He will be desperate to prove himself all over again in the Premier League after missing out on the French squad for the last World Cup.

The Villans are ready to give him an opportunity and new France manager Zinedine Zidane will be monitoring him wherever he ends up.
