Bus services will be diverted and several roads closed across Birmingham this evening as Aston Villa hold a city-centre victory parade following their Europa League final win.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, closures and parking suspensions around Broad Street, Centenary Square and Warstone Lane are scheduled from approximately 10:00 to 22:00.
Villa beat Freiburg 3-0 in Istanbul on May 20, with goals from Youri Tielemans, Emi Buendia and Morgan Rogers. It was the club’s first European title since 1982 and Unai Emery’s record-extending fifth triumph in the competition.
National Express West Midlands routes will be affected, and some may be diverted or use temporary stops this evening. Services expected to be affected include 8A towards Aston, 8C towards Highgate, 829 to and from the city, 9, 126, X10 in both directions, X8 in both directions, 822 to and from the city, 12 and 13 in both directions, 82 and 87 to and from the city, and 101 to and from the city.
Diamond services 16A, 50 and 50A are also subject to diversions and could follow a dedicated diversion route.
Heavy traffic is expected across the city due to the parade, road closures and ongoing roadworks, and access to some car parks and buildings on affected roads may be difficult. Areas including Digbeth, Holloway Circus and locations along the parade route are expected to be especially busy.
Passengers should allow extra time and check the Transport for West Midlands website for live updates.
