Aston Villa are reportedly interested in bringing defender Wilfried Singo to Villa Park in January, according to reports from Turkey.
The talented Aston Villa target turned heads when he chose to join Galatasaray, even though he would have been a coup for many top clubs across Europe.
After a few months, he has put himself on the radar of the Birmingham-based club with his performances domestically and in the Champions League.
The Villains are tracking his signature with the report claiming ‘Villa will be knocking on the door for the 24-year-old star, who has a €60 million release clause in his contract.’
In his five league appearances, Singo has won 63% of his aerial and 60% of his ground duels, while providing an assist.
His ability to fill in at centre-back and right-back makes him a crucial asset.
Singo is a fast, solid, robust, technically gifted beast of a defender who has proven his mettle in Italy, France, and Turkey and would adapt quickly to the Premier League.
Aston Villa’s defensive recruitment hasn’t exactly inspired confidence in recent windows.
The club’s failure to land Jaydee Canvot, who ultimately joined Crystal Palace, was a significant miss.
Instead, they settled for Victor Lindelof on a free transfer, a move that brought experience but little in the way of progression.
The Swedish defender remains steady but unspectacular, hardly the type to transform a backline or elevate Villa’s ambitions in Europe.
What Villa truly lack is an authoritative, commanding presence alongside Pau Torres, someone who can dominate duels, organise the line, and set the tone defensively.
In that regard, Singo, who has been lauded as a player with ‘great qualities’, fits the profile perfectly.
Dynamic, physical, and versatile, he has the kind of presence that Villa’s back four desperately needs if they’re to climb back into the top four in the league.
