Athletic salute world champions and hail values of a unique club | OneFootball

Athletic moved within seconds to salute their world champions, posting on social media as the final whistle sounded. According to El Correo, the Bilbao club hailed Unai Simón, Nico Williams, Aymeric Laporte and Luis de la Fuente as part of a unique family.

Until now the club had limited updates to the minutes played by their three internationals. On Friday they shifted tack, sending encouragement to the head coach, the goalkeeper, the centre-back and the Navarrese winger.

On Sunday Ibaigane set out its pride in what this title represents for such a singular institution. The post said three Athletic players, guided by a former Athletic footballer, are world champions, and offered congratulations to De la Fuente, Unai Simón, Laporte and Nico Williams.

The club then celebrated its way of competing, stressing its name and values as #UniqueInTheWorld at the summit. It added that wherever the destination, there is always an origin, a family and a home, signing off with Lezama-New York-Lezama.

All were shown in Athletic colours, including De la Fuente, a champion with the club in the 1980s.
