In a recent report, Mundo Deportivo stated that Barcelona are planning to sign Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford permanently when his current loan spell expires next summer. It has been claimed that the Catalan club have set their sights on recruiting the English striker permanently for €30m at the end of this season.

Rashford’s Impressive Loan Spell At Barcelona

Rashford has enjoyed a productive loan spell at the Nou Camp as he has managed to produce a run of impressive displays for Barca in the final third. The 28-year-old has banged in ten goals and grabbed 12 assists in 32 matches for the Catalan outfit this season across all competitions.

The English talent has proven his worth in the final third by averaging 4.18 shots per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has kept 36.4% of his attempts on target (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at his parent club, Man United, will expire in the summer of 2028. Hence, the Red Devils are under no immediate pressure to let him go at the end of this campaign.

Rashford can shoot the ball with power from long range and can be a good finisher in front of the opponent’s goal when he is playing with confidence on the field. He has got the vision to create a few decent chances for his teammates in the final third and is a decent dribbler with the ball.

The English talent can chip in by scoring and creating his fair share of goals in the final third. Rashford is primarily a left-sided wide player but can also operate as a right-sided winger or as a centre-forward if told to do so. However, he has struggled to find consistency for Man United in recent seasons and would be better off being shipped out of Old Trafford.

At 28, Rashford is still playing in his prime but could struggle to get into Michael Carrick’s first team next season. Therefore, the Red Devils would be wise to cash in on Rashford at the end of this campaign.

Rashford is surplus to requirements at the Theatre of Dreams. All in all, Man United should consider using the money generated from his permanent departure to sign a suitable replacement next summer.
