Barcelona have identified several candidates for sale this summer, and one of them is midfielder Marc Casado. The 22-year-old has no place in Hansi Flick’s plans for the 2026-27 season, which is why he has accepted the club’s decision to seek an exit.
In the last few weeks, several clubs have registered their interest in Casado’s services. Most recently, AC Milan and Besiktas asked about his situation, although the latter has a much better chance of agreeing terms with Barcelona, given that they are prepared to explore a transfer, whereas the Rossoneri want a loan with option to buy.
Despite Casado no longer being counted on, Barcelona are not prepared to simply give him away. They recognise that he has a market, which is why interested clubs have been told that they must pay €25m in order to sign him this summer, as per The Athletic.
As well as the aforementioned options in Europe, Casado also has chances to move to Saudi Arabia this summer. Clubs from the Saudi Pro League are following him, and they would be able to offer a salary package that blows the likes of AC Milan and Besiktas out of the water, which does make them an attractive proposition.
As things stand, Casado has not yet signalled where he wants to play football next season. His desire is still to be at Barcelona, but he accepts that his playing time would be extremely limited if he remained at the Spotify Camp Nou, and thus, preparations are already underway towards an expected exit.
In the coming weeks, there is sure to be movements in Casado’s situation. For now, both he and Barcelona are studying the market for the best opportunity, which until now has not presented itself – but it should do so soon.
