Barcelona club members unhappy with new ticketing system | OneFootball

In terms of their transfer operations, FC Barcelona continue to work on various targets such as Julian Alvarez. However, there are other business-related operations being conducted by the club this summer as well and those are not necessarily being met with a lot of applause or support it seems.

According to AS, the club has now officially announced a new ticketing system for the Spotify Camp Nou next season. With a limited stadium capacity of around 62,000 for now, the Catalan club has decided to give priority to season-ticket holders who already held said passes during the previous season.

This particular decision has reportedly not gone down well with several club members, who have even voiced their irritation online on social media. That is because the same fans who remained committed to the club during the move to the Montjuic Stadium now believe that they are being left behind by the club in order to maximize their revenue.

As such, they believe they have been pushed down the priority list and it seems that they are also unhappy with the prices for tickets being increased as well. Despite the club previously give reassurances that prices would not be raised, they claim that they have indeed been increased by 15-20%, which is a huge spike in relation to Spain’s reported inflation rate of 3%.

Now, given the current situation of the ticketing system, the non-season-ticket holders will have to wait for the first window to pass in which previous holders will be prioritised. Only once that is wrapped up will they have the chance to apply for the opportunity to attend the games next season.

While it is understandable why Barcelona would prefer to maximize revenue through this method, it is simultaneously also understandable why the club members would be unhappy with this development. The trip to games at the Montjuic Stadium has hardly been described as being pleasant by anyone who has attended games there, and the same fans who showed great loyalty and commitment then are now being told to wait patiently.
