FC Barcelona have a number of players out on loan who will be returning to the club at the end of the ongoing campaign.

However, not all of them will have a future at the Spotify Camp Nou once they come back and could leave on another loan stint or permanently.

One such player facing this situation happens to be teenage defender Hector Fort. The 19-year-old La Masia graduate is currently on loan at Elche and has only recently returned from a lengthy injury layoff.

Inter Milan, Bayer Leverkusen eyeing Fort

Now, according to journalist Matteo Moretto, two big teams from Europe, Inter Milan and Bayer Leverkusen, have shown an interest in signing Fort in the summer.

The right-back, for his part, has his heart set on staying at Barcelona once he returns from Elche, although that scenario depends on several factors.

After all, Barça have Jules Kounde and Eric Garcia as their primary options in the right-back position, with Xavi Espart, who made his breakthrough this season, also being an alternative.

In addition, the Catalans also intend to sign Joao Cancelo, who can play on both flanks, on a permanent transfer in the summer.

So, it would be difficult for Fort to nail down a place in the first-team squad, making the possibility of a departure likely.

Inter Milan’s interest, to that end, could prove to be a beneficial move for Barcelona as they can include the academy gem in the operation for Alessandro Bastoni and reduce the cost of the transfer, which could be around €60-65 million.

A move to Bayer Leverkusen would also work for Fort as he would stand to play for a top team in a competitive league.

It remains to be seen how things evolve with regard to his future at Barcelona, with interest in him growing.
