Roony Bardghji has quickly become one of the most talked-about young players at FC Barcelona despite arriving only last summer. The 20-year-old Swedish forward joined from Copenhagen for just €2.5 million, and while his talent has never been in doubt, his opportunities have been limited due to Lamine Yamal’s established role on the right wing.

That lack of minutes has not gone unnoticed across Europe. Over the past few weeks, Barcelona have received a wave of approaches from top-level clubs interested in securing Bardghji on loan during the winter transfer window.

Porto are among the sides that have made contact, but the response from the Catalan club has been firm and unanimous. The answer is no.

According to SPORT, neither Hansi Flick nor sporting director Deco has ever considered letting the winger leave in January. Both are fully aligned on the idea that Bardghji must remain part of the squad, especially given the current state of the team.

Barcelona’s depth in wide areas is limited, and Flick believes the season will offer moments where the young forward can make a real impact.

The interest in Bardghji is understandable. He has adapted well to life in Barcelona, continues to grow in training, and has shown his quality whenever he has been trusted on the pitch. That was clear in the Super Cup semi-final against Athletic Club, where he delivered a standout performance, scoring once and providing two assists, while playing with maturity and confidence.

From a financial perspective, a loan would not significantly help the club either. Bardghji earns a very modest salary, and any interested club would only take on half of it, meaning there would be no meaningful relief in terms of financial fair play or overall finances.

Although Lamine Yamal remains ahead of him in the pecking order, Bardghji is developing steadily and learning within the first team environment. Flick has publicly expressed his satisfaction with the winger, praising his performances and attitude whenever he has been given minutes.

Barcelona do expect the conversation around his future to resurface in the summer, when his role and chances of regular playing time will be reassessed. For now, however, the message from the club is clear. Roony Bardghji is staying, and Barcelona see him as an important part of the project for the remainder of the season.
