Barcelona have four alternatives ready in case Alvarez bid fails

FC Barcelona have a clear top-priority for the upcoming summer transfer window, i.e., to sign a top-class center-forward to replace Robert Lewandowski in their squad. For this purpose, the Catalans have already been linked with several exciting names in the market.

However, their most favorite target remains the Atletico Madrid star Julian Alvarez, even though they have had to taste failure in their attempts to convince the Colchoneros to negotiate his move. Still, reports suggest that the Blaugranes are planning to put in another big offer for him after the World Cup, despite having seen their first offer met with ridicule from the Mattress Makers.

In such a context, Barcelona are also keeping some alternatives in mind, and according to a report from SPORT, four different players currently constitute their Plan B.

One of these players is the Bournemouth forward Eli Junior Kroupi, the 19-year-old forward who scored 13 goals in 33 games last season. He stands out with his speed and agility, but being so young makes him a risky bet.

On the other end of the age spectrum is Mikel Oyarzabal, the Spanish striker who has gotten only better with age, and who is playing some of the best football of his life at 29 years of age. He recently scored a brace for Spain in the World Cup, and already has a close connection with several Barcelona players, with whom he shares the national team dressing room.

Another player whom the Catalans have in their sights is the Paris Saint-Germain striker Goncalo Ramos, who is not a key part of Luis Enrique’s plans. He scored 12 goals in 45 games last season, and his agent, Jorge Mendes, can also facilitate a move to the Blaugrana club.

Lastly, there is the Manchester United striker Benjamin Sesko, who has not been able to establish himself as a starter in his first year at the Premier League club, but still scored 12 goals in 32 games.

For now, the priority for Barcelona is still a top-level striker, either Julian Alvarez or Harry Kane. But if they are unable to land any of them, one of these four players can prove to be a suitable option for them.
