FC Barcelona once again showed their resilience as they came from behind to defeat Atletico Madrid in their first La Liga outing after the March international break.
The Colchoneros went ahead late in the first half through Giuliano Simeone, but before the half-time whistle, the Blaugranes were able to tie the scores. Then, with only a few minutes left on the clock, Robert Lewandowski scored the winning goal for his side.
These comeback wins now seem to be a routine matter for the Catalan side, especially since the appointment of Hansi Flick. In fact, according to a report from Mundo Deportivo, this was the 19th comeback win for Barcelona under Flick, and the 10th one this season.
Of these 10 games, 4 were played away from home, against Levante, Real Betis, Slavia Prague, and the last night’s game against Atletico Madrid. The other 6 were played at home, and include the wins against Real Sociedad, Alaves, Atletico Madrid, Eintracht Frankfurt, and Copenhagen.
What makes this even more notable is how consistently Barcelona have shown this ability in both La Liga and the Champions League. Regardless of the competition or the venue, Flick’s side has repeatedly found ways to respond after conceding first.
All of this highlights the strong mentality that Hansi Flick has managed to build within this team. Barcelona now look like a side that does not panic when going behind and instead grows into the game, making these comeback wins feel less like exceptions and more like a defining trait of this team.
