According to Mundo Deportivo, it has come to light that Barcelona are already considering a contract improvement for Marc Bernal following his impressive development under Hansi Flick during the 2025-26 campaign.
The outlet mentions that while no formal negotiations have started and no official steps have yet been taken regarding the matter, the club recognises that Bernal’s current situation may need to be reviewed in the near future.
This is because the academy graduate has gone from fighting his way back from a serious injury to becoming one of the most trusted young players in the first team.
According to the outlet, Bernal’s status within the squad changed significantly throughout the season.

After spending a lengthy period recovering from a major injury, the midfielder gradually worked his way back into contention and eventually established himself as a regular starter.
His performances in the midfield earned the trust of Hansi Flick and strengthened his position within the squad, which eventually led to being called up for World Cup preparation by Luis de la Fuente.
The progression was so notable that club officials now believe his contract no longer fully reflects his importance to the project.
Although discussions have not yet begun, it is said that Barcelona are seriously considering improving the terms of his agreement as recognition for his development and contribution.

It must be noted that Bernal remains tied to the club until 2029 after signing a long-term extension when he turned 18.
That deal also included a massive €500 million release clause, although his emergence as a first-team regular has elevated his standing even further.
Notably, the midfielder has received multiple approaches from other clubs, including proposals involving both permanent transfers and loan opportunities.
However, neither the player nor Barcelona have shown any interest in exploring alternatives, as everyone is aligned on the idea that he would play an even bigger role next season now that he is back to full fitness.
