Barcelona reject €65m bid for in-form midfield star – Report | OneFootball

FC Barcelona have been in impressive form both domestically and in the Champions League since the beginning of 2025 and are in prime position to win all the trophies they are competing in. However, Hansi Flick will be wary of his side getting complacent.

The Catalan club has been boosted by the fact that for the first time in many years, Flick has managed to keep most of his players injury-free and this has allowed the German coach to rotate his squad and keep them fit.

One player who has impressed a lot in recent weeks and months and has established himself as a starter over the impressive Marc Casado is Frenkie de Jong. The Dutchman has turned around his career and become a key cog in the team.

Now, as per Fichajes, Barcelona have rejected a €65m bid for the Dutchman from Manchester United. The Red Devils have had long-term interest in Frenkie de Jong and seem to still be trying to sign him from the Catalan club.

What Frenkie adds to the Barcelona team is quite valuable and the 27-year-old has added another dimension to Hansi Flick’s setup. He has formed an excellent partnership with Pedri at the base of the midfield.

The report claims that Barcelona want Frenkie to stay at the club and are set to offer him a new contract. The Dutchman will be in the final year of his contract going into the summer and it will be a crucial juncture in deciding his future.

Barcelona fans have slowly yet surely started admiring De Jong for his performances in recent weeks, but there is always the elephant in the room at the back of their minds considering his contractual situation doesn’t make for good reading.

It remains to be seen what the intentions of De Jong are going forward and if he intends to enter negotiations over a new contract. Hansi Flick’s trust in him could prove to be a pivotal decision and let’s wait and see how it plays out.
