Real Madrid president Florentino Perez helped Barcelona with Dani Olmo registration – report | OneFootball

Barcelona found themselves in a difficult spot in early January when the temporary registrations of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor lapsed and they were unable to re-register the pair before La Liga’s deadline.

As a result, the Blaugrana ended up taking the matter to the Higher Sports Council (CSD), who granted the club a precautionary measure to register the pair at least temporarily until April 7, when a decision on the matter is expected.

Florentino Perez’s help revealed

Now, according to journalist Bernat Soler on Catalunya Radio, Barcelona had assistance from Real Madrid president Florentino Perez in securing the precautionary measure to register Olmo and Victor.

Indeed, as per the report, both La Liga president Javier Tebas and other senior LFP figures confirm that Perez personally called Jose Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, president of Spain’s Higher Sports Council (CSD), requesting that Olmo be granted provisional registration.

These sources suggest that this call played a decisive role in unlocking the CSD’s decision in Barcelona’s favour.

Not the only instance of help

While institutional relations between Barcelona and Real Madrid seemed to have gotten very tense after the Negreira Case, in reality, Joan Laporta and Florentino Perez maintain frequent and cordial contact, as per the report.

In fact, it is further claimed that the Olmo situation is not the only favour Perez has allegedly done for Barcelona during Laporta’s second tenure as club president.

Journalist Xavi Hernandez reveals that when Laporta needed financial guarantees to take office at Barcelona, he also received assistance from Perez.
