FC Barcelona forward Ansu Fati is expected to complete his permanent transfer to AS Monaco in the coming days, with the Ligue 1 club set to activate the €11 million purchase option included in last summer’s loan agreement.
After lengthy negotiations with the player over personal terms, only minor details remain before the deal is finalised.
Barcelona are keen for the transfer to be completed before the purchase clause expires at the end of the month.
While the move will bring Ansu’s time at Barça to an end, the Catalan club have ensured they will retain significant influence over the forward’s future, reports MARCA.
Monaco have been convinced by Ansu’s performances during his season in France after joining the club on loan last summer.
The Spanish forward gradually rediscovered both his fitness and confidence, producing one of his strongest campaigns in recent years.

He scored 11 goals in 25 Ligue 1 appearances, averaging a goal every 110 minutes and reminding observers of the finishing ability that once made him one of Europe’s brightest young talents.
Those displays have persuaded Monaco to make the transfer permanent.
Although Barcelona will no longer own the player, they have negotiated an important safeguard.
Indeed, as per the report, the club will retain a right of first refusal on any future transfer involving Ansu.
If Monaco decide to sell him in the future and receive an offer from another club, Barcelona will have the opportunity to match that bid before any deal can be completed.
This mechanism ensures that, should Ansu continue his development and emerge as a transfer target once again, Barcelona will have priority if they wish to bring him back.
In addition to the right of first refusal, Barcelona have secured a 30% sell-on clause.

Should Monaco eventually sell the forward and the Catalans choose not to match the incoming offer, they would receive 30% of the transfer fee.
Recent speculation suggested Barcelona had negotiated a €28 million buy-back clause, but that is not the case. Instead, the agreement is built around the right of first refusal and the future sell-on percentage.
Ansu joined Monaco on loan after falling out of Hansi Flick’s plans for the previous campaign.
The move provided him with the regular playing time he needed after several injury-disrupted seasons, and he responded by producing consistent performances throughout the Ligue 1 campaign.
His revival has convinced Monaco to invest permanently, while Barcelona have carefully structured the deal to ensure they continue to benefit if the 23-year-old reaches the level many once predicted.
