A member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona recently made clear to manager Hansi Flick that he was not satisfied with the amount of game time afforded to him last season.

That’s according to Diario Sport, citing Barça Reservat, who point towards Fermín López as the player in question.

Youngster Fermín of course dominated the headlines in Catalunya’s capital in the final weeks of the recently-closed summer transfer window.

This came amid a concerted push on the part of Premier League heavyweights Chelsea for his signature.

In the end, the 22-year-old made the call to stay put, despite the no doubt vastly higher wages on offer in west London.

At one point, though, Fermín admitted to Hansi Flick that he was considering accepting Chelsea’s proposal.

That’s according to Barça Reservat, who have confirmed:

‘Fermín told Flick that although he wanted to stay at Barça, he was considering leaving for Chelsea. The reason given by the Huelva native was that he thought that in the previous season he had not been fair to him in terms of the minutes he had played taking into account his performance.’

Barcelona’s headmaster understood Fermín’s point, but made clear to both the player and the Camp Nou brass that he was not willing to lose any more players heading into the new season.
