Barcelona star responds to Real Madrid’s Cucurella signing: ‘That’s what Lamine Yamal does’ | OneFootball

Barcelona star Gavi has revealed his take that arch rivals Real Madrid’s move for Marc Cucurella comes in a direct effort to limit the influence of Lamine Yamal in meetings between the clubs.

Defender Cucurella is of course fresh off securing a return to his home country earlier this week.

After making the call to bring a close to his time on the books of Premier League giants Chelsea, the left-back put pen to paper on a long-term deal with the aforementioned Real Madrid.

The transfer has since sparked widespread backlash amongst those of a Barcelona persuasion, owing to Cucurella’s Blaugrana past.

Speaking during an interview with RAC1 (as cited by Fabrizio Romano) late this week, Gavi was therefore drawn on the name of his international teammate.

And the midfielder’s response proved a head-turning one, as follows:

“Well… Real Madrid have changed their full-backs a lot lately! That’s what you get from having Lamine Yamal at Barça.

“He’s THE BEST. Now they signed Cucurella to stop Lamine. Good rival, good player, I like it.”
