The 5th choice member of the captaincy pecking order at La Liga giants Barcelona will take to the pitch donning the captain’s armband on Tuesday.
This comes owing to the absence of those ahead of him on the captaincy list.
Barcelona are of course primed to return to action in short order.
After notching a much-needed bounce-back result at the expense of Girona this past weekend, the Blaugrana have welcomed Olympiacos to Catalunya’s capital for a Champions League showdown.
Amid something of an early-season injury crisis in his squad, Hansi Flick has opted to shake up his XI once more for the evening.
As much has culminated in the likes of Marc Casadó and Pedro ‘Dro’ Fernández being afforded starting roles.
It also means that Barca will line out against Olympiacos with their 5th-choice captain sporting the armband.
With Marc-André ter Stegen and Raphinha absent through injury, and Frenkie de Jong and Ronald Araújo forced to make do with a place on the bench, Pedri will lead his teammates out at Montjuïc on Tuesday.
