A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona will not be available for selection in the club’s next outing.

As much was confirmed across the Blaugrana’s social media platforms on Tuesday.

Barcelona are of course primed to return to action later this evening.

Fresh off securing a much-needed return to winning ways at the expense of Girona over the weekend, Hansi Flick’s troops have turned focus back towards matters on the continent.

A meeting with Greek heavyweights Olympiacos lies in wait, in the Champions League.

As alluded to above, though, in efforts to make it back-to-back victories across all competitions later today, Barca will be forced to make do without an important member of the club’s backline.

As per a statement released by the Spanish champions on Tuesday afternoon, after he was spotted departing the Ciutat Esportiva prematurely yesterday:

‘Andreas Christensen will miss today’s match against Olympiacos due to a gastrointestinal illness.’
