Barcelona star wants an increase in playing time next season | OneFootball

A member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has set his sighrs on an uptick in playing time next season.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Gavi as the player in question.

Midfielder Gavi, for his part, is fresh off something of a hit-and-miss individual campaign in Catalunya’s capital.

After spending the opening months of the term on the sidelines owing to a long-term knee injury, the Spanish international returned to the first-team fold late in 2024.

Amid the consistent excellence of his competition in the Barcelona engine room, however, Gavi found it tough to carve out a consistent starting role for himself under the watch of new boss Hansi Flick.

All told, the 20-year-old racked up 20 starts across all competitions in 2024/25.

Known for boasting an insatiable attitude when it comes to matters on the pitch, it should therefore come as little surprise to hear of Gavi already eyeing increased game time next season.

As per a report from Sport:

‘The Andalusian, a Barça player to the core, has celebrated the three titles won by Barça like the most, but wants more prominence next season. Therefore, he will be back at full strength on July 13, when Flick’s team returns to work.’
